Thanks to great bands like Mastodon and High On Fire,
power metal is back, and Black Cobra is another
awesome power metal band (as opposed to the legions
of "wimp metal" bands out there, naturally). Bass
playing really has no place in modern metal. Nobody is
clamoring for bass solos, and the bass parts usually
just mirror the lead guitar part. Thus, going with a
guitar/drum duo is the current cool thing to do (like
former Sleep alums Om). This is some vicious
sounding music that makes a righteous racket. |
